How to Lose Weight and See Results

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

Are you ready to see results and not learn more about how to lose weight?  If you have read about the quick ways to lose weight and spent a small fortune on programs, YOU really want to see results, don’t you?

The good news is that your results are only a few decisions away.  The bad news is that only you can make the decisions and only you can hold yourself accountable for getting results.  Losing weight does require some effort and sacrifices.  This can be really hard if you choose to give it the power.

Learning how to lose weight is easy but actually losing weight is a major challenge for a lot of people.  Since you are looking for results, let’s really look at your prior attempts to lose weight and see what can be changed to get better results.

Subtle Changes – Big Results

If you have attempted to lose weight before or have purchased programs and not stuck with any of them, why not?  What changed from the time you committed to lose weight until you decided it was no use and gave up?  Were you actually following the program and taking all of the required actions or were you picking and choosing what you had time to do or that would fit your life style?

Grab your journal and write your answers to these questions.  Be completely honest and write your true feelings about your efforts and any thoughts that you have concerning your weight.  Take as much time and pages as needed to get everything on paper because only then will you be ready to accept results.

One of the hardest things you will ever do is change your mind set about losing weight and getting results.  Focus your attention on making small changes in your daily eating habits by continually asking yourself, does this food add value to my body?  We are talking about nutritional value, not simply tasting good.

Have discussions with yourself and only your best friend because you are the one making the choice to get rid of unwanted inches and pounds.  The choice has to be yours and start by imagining how good it feels to know that the increase in exercise activities and decrease in calories is giving you great results.

Traps to Avoid

Most often we tend to listen to our close friends about everything and their input can affect your decisions at a subconscious level.  They are okay with your weight and will ask you to cheat on your program by simply saying, we are eating at your favorite restaurant, one meal is not going to hurt.  If you are not mentally prepared for the temptation, politely decline and stick to your plan.

Do you normally compare yourself with others who are also struggling with losing weight?  Unless you are a member of a group program where competition is used as motivation then  don’t fall into this trap because your results may not add up to the competition.  If you like comparing with others, when they lose more weight than you, respond by increasing your activities and decreasing your calorie intake.

Do not allow emotional problems or low self esteem to affect your eating choices.  They can and will prevent you from getting your results, especially if you tend to binge eat.  Remember the question; does this food add value to my body?

Eliminating sugar, fruit drinks, soda, beer and eating healthier will cause your body to crave for what it is accustomed to having.  Do not cheat yourself by giving in to these temptations.
